When the concert season at Liseberg ended a couple of weeks ago I was actually fed up with shooting shows and I was looking forward to a break. However, it didn’t take long for me to miss capturing live music performances and I started to look at other options for photographing concerts again. The first opportunity turned out to be Elin Ruth‘s performance at Nefertiti Jazz Club last Thursday. I covered the event for Decibell Media and, as usual, most of the images from the show are available for purchase on their website. It felt really good to photograph a show once again, especially since it offered me challenges to handle that were all new to me. And I do enjoy challenges!
Elin Ruth’s concert at Nefertiti was the first time I have shot a performance at a smaller club setting and it turned out to be a lot of fun. The stage was really small and I had to be really careful when I moved around so that I wouldn’t disturb the rest of the audience too much. As I had expected, the basement club setting forced me up to ISO levels I have only read about before but my trusted Nikon D800 handled the dim conditions quite well. Also, even if the level of light was fairly low, the quality was far better than I had hoped for and I’m happy with how the resulting images turned out. Feel free to compare these images to the ones from last year, when I photographed Elin Ruth at Liseberg (available here), and let me know which ones you like the best.
